Policymakers are striving to improve the environmental and economic performance of their recovery and recycling efforts. Doing so requires understanding and applying complex, and often conflicting, factors:

  • Concepts like the circular economy, sustainable materials management, and materiality must be explored and weighed.
  • The costs of recovery and recycling continue to go up while the economic value has gone down. These ever-changing factors require novel and creative ways to fund landfill diversion efforts.
  • The need to reduce food waste has rippled across the entire supply chain.  Packaging’s ability to provide reliable information regarding the shelf life of the products it contains is of increased interest to policymakers and others.

AMERIPEN sees a tremendous opportunity to help align the diverse policy-related efforts needed to ensure that packaging is economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable.

To do so, this year’s annual meeting will help members, TAG participants, and guests to:

  • Learn about sustainable packaging issues and solutions being considered by a variety of state legislatures.
  • Think through the implications of proposed laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Plan strategies and tactics that ensure effective and efficient policy decisions.
  • Report on those plans and prepare to take action!

We will once again be hosting panel discussions and presentations by legislative, environmental, and packaging experts. They will share and discuss their experiences and recommendations regarding effective packaging and policy decisions. (Our popular Flash Talks are also back!)

Now’s the time to fill out the form and sign up for this year’s annual meeting!
