The Ag Container Recycling Council (ACRC) is an industry-funded nonprofit trade association dedicated to the safe collection and recycling of agricultural chemical containers. Representing member companies and affiliates that formulate, produce, package, and distribute agricultural chemical products, ACRC operates at the intersection of packaging, product stewardship, and end-of-life management. The ACRC program scope covers the full spectrum of agricultural chemical products, including pesticides, fertilizers, animal health, micronutrients, biologicals, adjuvants, and surfactants.
Through cost-effective programs that prioritize public health, environmental protection, and resource conservation, ACRC supports the collection and recycling of rigid HDPE agricultural containers up to 55 gallons. Implemented in 1992 as the first industry stewardship program of its kind in the nation, ACRC has facilitated the recycling of more than 268 million pounds of agricultural plastic containers over its 34-year history. The organization also advances research into responsible end-of-life solutions, helping ensure materials are managed safely while supporting efficient recovery systems.
ACRC is actively engaged in policy discussions related to extended producer responsibility, recycled content mandates, advanced recycling, chemicals of concern, and labeling. Through AMERIPEN, the organization values access to timely legislative insights and collaborates with stakeholders to support practical, informed policy solutions.
