Raspberry Packaging

AMERIPEN works to ensure that nominations to the Board are representative of the overall membership. Directors are elected at each annual meeting to hold office for a term of three years. They may serve up to three successive terms if nominated and elected. Elections are staggered so that one third of Board positions are open each year.

Board Members

PRESIDENT | Mike Prentiss, Procter & Gamble.

Mike Prentiss is Senior Manager, State Government Relations & Global Government Communications with the Procter & Gamble Company. In this role, Mr. Prentiss oversees day-to-day government relations activities in 21 states and helps manage internal and external communications on political and public policy issues.

PAST PRESIDENT | Lee Anderson, General Mills, Inc.

Lee Anderson is Director of Issues Management & State Government Relations for General Mills. He leads company efforts to identify, analyze and prioritize key and emerging reputational and regulatory issues, develops stakeholder engagement strategies, and leads all U.S. state lobbying efforts for the company.

An attorney with over 20 years of government relations and policy experience, Lee is active in the policy community, serving on the Board of the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (AMERIPEN), and as the past Chair of the Citizens League, a nonpartisan organization that advances policy solutions and builds civic leadership.

VICE PRESIDENT | Scott Byrne, Sonoco

Scott Byrne serves as the Assistant Director of Global Sustainability at Sonoco, a global packaging solutions leader, committed to improving the lives of customers, teammates and communities. With his extensive background in all aspects of environmental management and sustainability, Byrne helps ensure Sonoco is on the cutting edge of sustainability initiatives.

Prior to joining Sonoco, Scott was the Market Sustainability Manager for the US and Canada at Tetra Pak, where he was responsible for the implementation of sustainability programs. While at Tetra Pak Scott was also responsible for driving positive stakeholder engagement as the Director of Government Affairs at the Carton Council of North America, a recycling-focused industry group. 

TREASURER | Cathy Foley, Pratt Industries

Cathy Foley is Vice President of Industry Relations and Supply Chain for Pratt Industries, a producer of 100% recycled content corrugated boxes. Previously, she was Group Vice President of AF&PA Paper sectors, including all paper based packaging and recovered fiber sectors. Her experience in the packaging arena includes policy development and execution at the international, federal and state levels, technical, communications environmental/sustainability and research.

SECRETARY | Susan Robinson, Waste Management, Inc.

Susan Robinson is Public Affairs Director for Waste Management. She has worked in the environmental industry for 30 years in roles that span the public sector, non-profit, consultancy, and over twenty years in the private sector. Her experience includes global commodity marketing, research and analysis of industry trends, and twenty years managing municipal solid waste and recycling contracts.

Susan is also on the Board of Directors of the American Biogas Council, served on the Washington State Governor’s Beyond Waste Working Group, and is past president of the Washington State Recycling Association.

BOARD MEMBER | Rob Flores, Berry Global

Rob FloresRobert Flores is the VP of Sustainability at Berry Global. Flores is leading the Company’s efforts to achieve their ambitious Impact 2025 sustainability strategy. This strategy includes 100% of the fast-moving consumer goods packaging Berry produces to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable and have an average of 10% recycled content as well as reducing Scope 1+2 GHG emissions by 25% versus a 2016 baseline. Flores works with many other global sustainability leaders as part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation New Plastics Economy working group and as an advisor to the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. Flores is also Chairman of the Flexible Film Recycling Group and a member of the PLASTICS Sustainability Advisory Board. As a long-time recycling advocate, Flores has been an active member of the Association of Plastic Recyclers since 2009, and has subsequently worked with several other local, national, and global organizations to foster a circular economy.

BOARD MEMBER | Tracy Mihas, Kellogg Company

Tracy MihasTracy Mihas joined Kellogg Company as Senior Director of State Government Relations in January 2018 and is located in Washington, DC. 

Ms. Mihas is responsible for managing the company’s government relations program in 50 states with an emphasis on states and localities where Kellogg has a presence. In this role, she oversees the development and implementation of strategic plans on public policy issues with importance to the company.
Ms. Mihas has over 20 years of experience in state government relations for consumer products companies. Prior to joining Kellogg, she worked for Mondelez International managing federal and state engagement strategies. She also worked for Kraft Foods Global and Altria Group. 

During Ms. Mihas’ career, she served on the Board of Directors for the Food Industry Association of Executives, and was Chair of the Grocery Manufacturers Association’s State Affairs Committee. Ms. Mihas was also Chair of the California League of Food Processors Board of Directors, and was the Co-Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Oregon Liability Reform Coalition.

Ms. Mihas graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism.

BOARD MEMBER | Michael Okoroafor, McCormick

Michael OkoroaforDr. Michael Okoroafor is the Vice President, Global Sustainability and Packaging Innovation.  In this role, he is responsible for the strategic direction, policies, development and execution of agricultural, ingredient, product and packaging sustainability, as well as packaging innovation capabilities globally.

On October 15, 2018 Mike was inducted into the Packaging and Processing Hall of Fame at PACK EXPO International. Mike is an innovation leader and has over 40 patents to his name and a career that, in addition to McCormick, has spanned prominent roles within PPG, The Coca-Cola Company, and Heinz.

Dr. Okoroafor has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Nigeria, a Masters in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Detroit, and Ph.D. in Organic Polymer Chemistry from Michigan State University.  He is also a graduate of the Executive Development Program at Kellogg Business School, Northwestern University.  Mike serves on the Engineering & Science Advisory Board for the University of Detroit Mercy, and on the Board of Directors for IoPP (Institute of Packaging Professionals) where he is also the Treasurer.

BOARD MEMBER | Jennifer Ronk, Dow

Jennifer RonkTwenty-nine years of experience on a wide range of sustainability topics. I joined Dow in 2018 as a North American Sustainability Manager for their packaging and specialty plastics business. In that role I work with a broad range of stakeholders to keep plastic out of the environment, make sure that it has another life, and inspire as many others as possible to help build a circular economy for plastic. Before joining Dow in 2018, I worked in the for-profit and non-profit sectors where I developed, implemented and managed programs for a wide range of sustainability topics, including reducing contamination, supporting clean energy and climate change policy, sustainable transportation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and habitats. I've had the pleasure to work with small business to multinational business, national to local government, and multinational to local non-governmental organizations. I have a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and the Environment.

BOARD MEMBER | Kelly Smith, Ferrero

Kelly SmithKelly joined Ferrero USA in January 2020 as Director, Government & Institutional Affairs. She handles nutrition and sustainability issues, supporting the company’s growing footprint in the United States and coordinating with Ferrero colleagues around the world. Previously, Kelly worked in the same space at Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) where she helped develop the company’s policy positions on everything from marketing to children to packaging stewardship. During her time at KDP, she worked on two sets of environmental goals for the company and led stakeholder engagement on all sustainability topics. Kelly also served as chair of the Environment Committee for two consecutive terms at KDP’s lead trade association, the American Beverage Association (ABA,) where she helped set the course for the group’s programs around plastics and packaging. Kelly started her career at ABA where she worked in government affairs at the local, state and federal level and handled the association’s environmental portfolio.

BOARD MEMBER | Mariagiovanna Vetere, NatureWorks

Mariagiovanna VetereAs NatureWorks Global Public Affairs Manager, Mariagiovanna represents the company on public and legislative affairs. Her responsibilities include product cradle-to-cradle options, feedstock sustainability aspects, and interfacing with relevant industry associations and external stakeholders. She manages an extensive network and relationships with the Plastics industry associations, Brand Owners associations and NGOs; and has practical experience in how EU directives set at the Brussels level translate into actions at the EU country level.

Mariagiovanna brings a strong background well suited to this space, having spent the last 10 years at Corepla, the Italian consortium for Plastics Packaging Collection, Recycling and Recovery where she built a solid experience in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Packaging.



Dan FeltonA well-known leader in the state government affairs arena for nearly 20 years, Dan has worked within the bottled water, credit card, healthcare and information management industries. He is particularly passionate about environmental, sustainability and packaging issues and has lobbied extensively in those areas at the state and federal levels. Dan has chaired committees and led task forces for several national trade associations and has served on the board of the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC) where he is a graduate of the their nationally recognized professional certificate programs. In addition to his government affairs work, Dan has run the finances and served on the board of a nationally recognized theatre education non-profit and has been involved with the Commission on Presidential Debates since 2000 in support of their quad-annual presidential and vice presidential debates, managing ticketing, seating and security issues. A graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Dan has lived in the Washington, DC, area for nearly 30 years.


Kyla FisherKyla Fisher is the Program Manager for AMERIPEN--a material neutral trade association for the packaging industry. As Program Manager, Kyla is responsible for leading the association’s committees and stakeholder engagement efforts, as well as all research and development of the association’s publications and programs.

A former instructor of strategy for ASU’s Masters of Sustainability program, Kyla passionately believes that sustainability is not an “add-on for businesses but rather should be seen as a strategic offering that offers resiliency in uncertain times.
