Ecommerce Packaging: Planning for Policy Shifts  

Frequency: Monthly calls as needed

This working group is examining how the packaging waste stream is shifting with the rise of ecommerce with the intent of predicting where implications may arise for packaging policy. Committee objective is to inform and direct potential legislative strategy towards proactive solutions.

Value of Packaging in Preventing Food Waste

Frequency: Monthly calls as needed

Working in collaboration with a number of partners (WWF, ReFED, FWRA etc.) this working group seeks to promote the value of packaging in the fight against food waste. Priority areas identified include integrating packaging and food waste policies to avoid unintended consequences, better understanding how consumers use packaging in the home and exploring the best areas for packaging to be leveraged to reduce both household and retail food waste.

Government Affairs

Frequency: Weekly Calls

This committee works closely with our lobbyists at Serlin Haley to develop and draft the strategies through which we respond to State policy regarding packaging and the environment. Strategies are developed with the intent to proactively engage States in responsible packaging policy development. The committee represents both the AMERIPEN membership as well as coordinates with the industry as whole.


Annual Conference Planning Committee

Frequency: Meets Monthly from June – March

Committee members help plan the agenda and activities for AMERIPEN the annual conference and members meeting. This committee works closely with AMERIPEN staff and event planners.

Frequency: Bi-Monthly Calls

Committee members advise AMERIPEN Board and staff on potential membership and communication strategies. Intention is to increase profile of the association amongst key stakeholders by identifying key messaging and audiences.
